Your garage shouldn't need a solar project.
A garage, carport or small flat roof can be a perfectly useful place to produce electricity.
But today, adding solar often means turning a simple idea into a construction project: mounting systems, components, installers, electrical work and appointments. For a small system, the professional work can become a disproportionately large part of the total cost.
- Too much installation work
- A small solar system can still require many of the same professional steps as a large rooftop installation.
- Too much cost
- When the system is small, labour, electrician work and coordination can become a large share of the total investment.
- A useful roof stays empty
- The roof could generate electricity, but the installation is simply not worth the trouble.
If you have an electric car, heat pump or simply want to buy less electricity from the grid, an unused garage roof is an obvious place to look for more generation.

More than a million people have already plugged in their own solar
In Germany, small plug-in solar systems are widely known as Balkonkraftwerke. More than one million systems have already been registered.
The idea is simple: instead of buying a conventional rooftop solar project, consumers can buy a small solar product, install it themselves and connect it to their home.
So why stop at the balcony?
Millions of garages, carports, extensions and other small flat roofs could also produce useful electricity. We want to take the simplicity of plug-in solar and design the product specifically around these roofs.
